Breigh and Todd met me at sunset two days after their wedding. We spent the day relaxing by the pool unsure of whether we had the energy to wander down to the beach. But I am so thankful that we did! Thank you for an incredible time Breigh & Todd, I loved EVERY second of our Dominican adventure!

I had an incredible time at Breigh & Todd’s destination wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We were reacquainted with old friends, made new ones, photographed a gorgeous, “top-drawer” couple who had us laughing, crying, dancing, and celebrating right alongside them. Todd was our roommate way back before kids and ended up spending much of my pregnancy on the couch next to me, I edited photos and he surfed the web. He introduced me to Family Guy, taught me you can put anything on a sandwich, showed me it is possible to go to the gym two or three times a day and survive, and educated me on the health benefits of Guinness versus your regular Coors or Bud. In return, I spent countless hours trying to set him up with single northerners in an attempt to tie him to the North. Each suggestion was met with a ‘nah’. I figured Todd would be forever single and gave up on setting him up. Which was lucky, because it gave him an opportunity to pick his own partner! Even though Breigh and I both grew up in Yellowknife, it took a southern boy to finally bring us together. Following Todd and Breigh’s engagement, I was able to photograph both Todd and Breigh together and Breigh on her own. I adored all of our time together and had an awesome time getting to know her even more in Punta Cana.

My husband and I fight over who gets to claim Todd as their adoptive brother. He has a special place in our family and sharing such an amazing day with Todd and Breigh was an honour- welcome to the family Breigh! From a speedo clad wedding ceremony crasher to stilt-wearing reception crashers to the most beautifully balanced participation of both families, it was definitely a wedding to remember, I hope you enjoy the images!

Below is a taste of the images Tara and I created- I am excited for our next opportunity to work together!

I have known these little ones since their first days. I photographed each of them as little bubs and watching them grow has a special place in my heart. Brett is one of my hubby’s best friends and both moms to each of these three wonderful boys are friends, Shawna is one of my besties and together Brett and Shawna are godparents to our youngest, Owen.

I remember when six year old Mr. J was only a year old. Everytime he would leave finger prints on the wall or mash his hands through his lunch instead of eating it, his mom Stephanie would just shrug her shoulders and say “discovery”. This is how Steph led the boys through their days- discovery. I remember being in awe of her discovery parenting style as I myself was pregnant with our first bean. Steph was always one of those parents that was out adventuring with her boys, and I found it so inspiring to have a friend luging her little ones outside rather than hiding in from the northern cold. Mr. J and Lil Mr. R have since added to their family with Shawna and now a brand new baby brother Lil Mr. N. Together these three boys are spoiled with snuggles, adventures and laughter. So an adventure themed photography session seemed fitting! I adored shooting this session last Fall and adored that Shawna and Brett were willing to bring the boys out at my favourite time of day- although I don’t think she realized what my favourite time to shoot was! (I cannot take credit for the awesome airplane. Shawna asked what I wanted for the session. I went out on a limb and said an airplane made from a cardboard box. Brett and Shawna gave me way more than I had ever dreamed… future prop building team?! wink wink, nudge nudge!)
